The kiln was built in the shape of a dragon, its body stretched up a hillside, its mouth open to the earth. It has been firing ceramics ever since. More than five centuries have passed. Dynasties rose and fell. Wars reached these streets. The 20th century remade China twice over. The Nanfeng Kiln kept burning.
