This is the part of Istanbul that rarely appears in photographs. No palaces here, no famous skylines. What you find instead is the city at work: eight districts that together hold millions of people, where ancient Greek and Roman settlement layers underlie high-rise towers and university campuses, and where the transformation from rural to urban is still visibly incomplete.]]></description>
